Spme pics from St. Patrick's Day.

Boston on St. Patrick's Day. Really, enough said on that subject. So, I have a headache still. Spent the day at M.J. O'Connor's. I also edited an old photo that I came across. So I hope you enjoy.

Saturday already? Where do the days go?

Wow, it's Saturday already. I feel like another week has slipped past. I have been editing the photos that I took the other day. I was playing with Lightroom. I am trying to decide if I want to upgrade to Lightroom 4. I suppose it makes sense to do it.
Well here are the photos I have for today. Again, they are part of the last set of shots. I just wanted to play with some different effects in LR. The first two are mostly playing with soft focus. I was trying to do a dream-like effect. The following two are self-portraits, and the last is the moon. It was full a few days back and I enjoy taking photos of the full moon. The only problem is that it creates a huge issue with over exposure when it is full. I recommend shooting it when it is not full.

If you have any comments, I'd love to hear from you.
Thank you again for reading my little blog.

Hump day

Another day has come and gone. I shot a couple of photos today - 64 to be precise. These three are the first that I have edited. Two self portraits and a shot of the moon.
I adjusted the white balance on the moon shot to tungsten to give it a blue cast.
The self portraits were light with my flash through a 16" softbox.
Also there are two pictures from coffee with my friend Michael.

As Sunday turns into Monday...

...and I can't sleep. I lie in bed wishing I were asleep. Instead, I will post pictures from after work . Maybe I shouldn't have had 10 PM coffee in the north end?

Sweet Dreams and Flying Machines lay in pieces on the ground.

So it is Saturday evening. I am glad to any of you who have come across my post. I am especially thankful for the followers of my little corner of the web. I appreciate you all very much. It was rainy today and I lived in fear of getting my camera wet as I went about taking care of my responsibilities. However, soon after 3 PM the clouds cleared up and the sun came out. I was in a much better, and drier, frame of mind. I found some old photos taken with a point and shoot that I used to have. I edited one of them for this post. It is difficult because the quality of the image was not fantastic to begin with. To give a hint: it's the B&W one. The others were taken today. I bought a small rose bush at the local supermarket and came home with my flash and shot off 60 something pics. I would be posting more, but I have to go out and take more photos.

The other photo is Downtown Crossing in Boston, by the Macy's building. I liked the look of it. Hopefully you do too.

Hello and Happy Friday!

Well,

I was always a natural light guy. I was also always a film guy. Film and natural light, why would I need anything else? Well, I am now a digital guy and quickly becoming a strobist. I have been experimenting with flash. I have been playing with modifiers and straight flash. I am also starved for models to take photos of. I need to find more models, other than myself. So with that not-so-subtle lead in: Self-portaits.

They are the post today. Mostly the are an experiment with the flash . Every one of these photos was taken using a different method, all using my flash as the only light source. The changes involve diffusion, positioning, and not diffusing. There were 63 of these taken. Some came out horribly, others not so badly. I am learning, so here ya go:
